Re: Rules Questions
i have a question;
lets say at the end of the game player one has 30 coins in his personal account. does he get to keep that himself plus the split from the group account, or does it count as part of the money in the group account?

Re: Rules Questions
He gets the 30 coins, plus whatever he gets from the team account.

Re: Rules Questions
This could go on forever, until people deplete their accounts... Do you have a time limit for this to end at?

No. But it is difficult to keep creating stalemates.

Re: Rules Questions
But in the case it happened, do you plan to end this in 50 turns or something? what would we do?

Re: Rules Questions
There are 2 ways in which the game can end:
1) Checkmate
2) Stalemate when both team accounts are empty.
Also, a clarification: If you buy pieces after the game has started, you cannot move on that turn. You need the kings permission to buy pieces, but the permission to move is sufficient.

Re: Rules Questions
The same piece can only move 3 consecutive times, unless it is justified (that is, you can't move the same piece many times for ensuring a passive game in your team).

Re: Rules Questions
Just to clarify, I've been asked about the ingame buying pieces mechanics. Here's how it works:
Each turn, you can either buy pieces or move. Of course, for doing so, you need the King's authorization. You can buy as many pieces as you want in only one turn if you have enough coins. Only the authorized player can buy pieces. As a clarification, buying the piece is not what consumes a move. Having it places on the chessboard is the move consumer. That means that you can buy as many pieces as you like even if it's not your turn, but you can't place them on the chessboard unless the King authorizes you to move.
I hope it's clear now.

Re: Rules Questions
Just a couple of quick announcements.
First, I will edit the first post with questions whenever i get asked something by pm or msn. They will receive an answer in whatever format they ask on, but I will also move the question here.
Second, what Forli said earlier is valid. If you wish to buy a piece at any time, just PM your dealer. If you wish to place a piece, you will need your king's permission.

Re: Rules Questions
Yes. If you buy, say, 4 pawns, you can place all of them once you have the kings permission.

Re: Rules Questions
Placing any number of pieces takes a turn. If you only have 1 piece, you can spend your turn doing that. If you have 16 pieces, you can spend your turn putting them all in, assuming you have the space.
The maximum number of pieces you can place in one turn is 20, since they must all be placed in the front two rows.

Yeah, That makes me...
Really nervous.
I thought you guys fixed this after last round.
I don't like feeling like the rules are gonna keep changing.

Glass is right. It's obvious you guys complain too much.
And we have referred to it as plural in the past. You can place pieces on the board when you have control.

That does not state any refrence to it being plural

If you wish to buy a piece at any time, just PM your dealer. If you wish to place a piece, you will need your king's permission.
Here's a quote from forli, 3rd page.
Place A piece.
I'm seeing nothing about being able to place more than one.
~~~~~~
The thing is, if I knew we could place multiple ones a turn, I'd had not bought all the pieces i bought/had the king place all the pieces i bought.
[7:08:32 PM] BrandonIXI: I'd think: Every time I place a piece, I use a turn.
^That's how I feel
Re: Rules Questions
Just a quick refresher. I am official rules person. You may ask other dealers, and they will answer to the best of their ability, but sometimes they are unsure. And if a ruling is missing from the rules, they will most likely make it up on the spot. There are 2 possible answers I will give:
1) This is the answer. (This is the only possible answer you will see in this thread. I will delay answering if it is the other option)
2) I think this is the answer, but let me check with the game designer/other dealers. (This may occur if it's on msn/the xat/the forum chatbox.)
Me being the official rules person was done because of rules being made up on the spot, as Masquerade will most likely be willing to remind you all. This ruling is what it was supposed to be, according to Forli when I first asked him. And I did clarify plural at the time. As masquerade demonstrated, the ruling was not made clear either way, so it is reasonable that people assumed one way or the other. This is not a rules change to screw people over for acting in a particular way, it is a rules clarification because the rules were unclear/had an omission. It is apparently also omitted/unclear that pieces cannot be placed outside of the first two rows if you buy them after game setup, but we have clarified that and noone complained. (We think it says it, and have shown the person who asked, but he didn't think it was clear.)
I will apologize in advance on any other rules omissions/unclear aspects. Generally speaking, we have done what we can to cover everything, but since you guys wanted a complex game, we kinda set ourselves a goal significantly more difficult than we realized. I will say in advance that the revival round and round 3 are already planned out, and are in the realm of reasonably simple. We (probably) won't do anything this complex again.
On the plus side, you may sell unplaced pieces at full value. Buying them in advance just makes it so you can place them faster.
Re: Rules Questions
But alas, if I knew that was possible, then i wouldn't have had the king place all my pieces. You didnt clarify or tell us. THAT'S the problem. You guys dont clarify anything, so you leave us to assume.
